I have always admired your dedication towards breeding so many fine strains of discus.I did breed and raise a few myself.I wish I had the time to take up the fascinating hobby again.May be some day who knows.I enjoyed your discus on your web site very much.Keep up the excellent work. Are you breeding some of the wild strains just to preserve them before the are lost for ever due to destruction of their habitat?

The Plains, OH. USA- Congradulations! You are the undisputed "DISCUS KING". I'm 50 years old this year, and I've been breeding different types of fish on a much, much smaller level. Only as a household hobby for almost 36+ years. I've lived in many different states. Your name has been around for almost as long as I can remember. I've never raised the discus, but some of my friends have. I want to start raising them maybe this year. Best Wishes for your continued success.

Orlando, F: USA- I am so fortunite to live so close to Jack's hatchery. I had bought 6 Blue Turquoise discus from Gabe back in early October at 5 inches each. Since Thanks Giving, they have spawned many times in the community tank and now have 2 breeding pairs from the 6 that I bought. Now they are a full6-6 1/2 inches in length and are still laying eggs weekly. They haven't gotten it quite right yet, but with time and experience they will. Thanks again Gabe and Jack for producing wonderful fish! I will be back soon for another color strain! Thanks again

Wilbur Combs <wildboar@tgtel.com>
Decoy, KY USA- Hi Mr Wattley
The discus was one of the first fish I ever keept. I started keeping fish back in about 1971.
I say a brown baby about an inch in size which way back then cost about nine dollars, a lot of money
in those days. Then a small pet shop opened in hazard Ky. I became a discus fanatic still a teenager
buying every varity of discus he could get even a teffie green which at thet time was a very rare fish
but I was in college and, bringing them home they got cold and they all died breaking my heart. I stopped
and a few years went buy I then got a 30 gallon tank and bought more they grew to breeding age but, I
I was fourced to move again and those died when I moved to new water. since then of an on I buy more and
try again and again but I have never breeded them yet. I wont give up and one day I will succeed and breed
my own discus. I bought your book on raising discus it was the best book I ever read on discus, I have
kept up with your discus sucess story you were one of the first to ever sucessfully raise young on man made
food. It is true the fish you raise are the most beautiful of all discus and if I had the money and a way
I would buy six of your small tourquoise discus and raise them in good acid ground water and hope for a pair
breed them and fullfill one of my lifes greatest dreams, mabye some day it may come true. you never know.
but you are the greatist discus breeder I have ever heard of I hope you read this and mabye send me a reply
my email address is wildboar@tgtel.com or if I change it it will be wildboar40@tgtel.com I would love to hear
from you but that is another dream of mine. May God bless all your fish and sucess with my favorite fish.
sincerely Wilbur Combs

Greg Watson <watsongs@shaw.ca>
Calgary, Alberta Canada- Mr.Wattley I have a number of mature discus in my community tanks and I have had success in getting only one breeding pair. My tanks kh is 70 and the ph is 6 - 6.0. What is the best way to encourage pairs to form and how do I determine the sex of Pidgeon Blood adults and Cobalt adults. If the adults are 4 years old or older is there any chance these will breed or am I better off buying new discus if my goal is to get some breeding pairs. I have alot of questions regarding breeding discus. I have a book on disus from you and also one from Penang Discus. Your book is more towards discus in general and the Penang one is about breeding. Do you know of a breeding book that covers tank setup on and all the important points I need to successfully grow discus from 1 inch fish to breeders. I have had some success growing out my German Turquoise fry and raising these. You Red Pandas are of particular interest to me and I wonder if I would be better off buying directly from you or purchasing from the store in Sherwood Park in Edmonton. If I bought Dierctly from you would I need an import permit to bring fish into Canada. Sorry for all the questions but I absolutely love the Discus Breeds, I have 11 tanks from 20 - 77 gallons and would like to become much better at breeding these fish.I appreciate any help you could offer. Thank you

Clinton, NC USA- My husband went on a tropical benge several years ago. I had Pigeon Blood Discus and Turqoise. I did partial water changes every Fri. and used Jungle Start Right, plus had well water. I had two pair of the turqoise breed and have babies. He bought every book you ever wrote, but I never had time to get the babies out and put egg yolk on a plate and tend to them since I work 40 hours a week here at the community college. I would like to try it again but what is the answer. Every breed of fish I had bred and I think it was the partial water changes weekly, keeping the temp. right and having well water. I had the sucker cat fish breeding real well in konk shells. The mother likes to hide in there. Also Oscars and cichlids. It is just about impossible to get the babies out and have them feed immediately. What is the answer for discus so they don't eat all the babies and start over.

Bellingham, wa USA- I have been a fish nut sence grade school. I'm now 50 years old. About 10 tears ago I came acros some 2-inch size Wattlys blues and buoght 5 and 2 paierd off, and boy did they make lots of babys, more then I knew what to do with. Unfortionetly now I don't have the time to breed and raise Discus from fry, so now I buy 1-2 inch size from folks in the Seatle area bring them home and get them in great health then sale them to pet stores aruond my area and to discus people. I believe Discus are very easy to keep if you can get healthy ones to start with. This is what I'm trying to prmote here at the top of Washington state.
